It's a Vibe, 10 Reasons Why: Seaweed Villa, At Jakes, Treasure Beach, Jamaica

If you are looking for some down time with a definite Jamaican vibe, look no further than Treasure Beach on the South Coast of Jamaica. Way more chill and far lesser known than the more famous Jamaican tourist destinations, such as Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios. But a definite must visit if you crave relaxation with a luxurious rustic charm, then Seaweed Villa at Jake's Treasure Beach is your spot.

Seaweed is a 4 bedroom villa with 2 stand alone 1 bedroom cottages right on the seaside. The villa is separate and apart from the main Jake's compound. Located around 5 minutes away by car, you can always visit Jakes and eat at the restaurant or check out the activities there. But in these days when isolation is a thing, you can be sure to feel safe in your own space, complete with an infinity pool, sunset views, outdoor showers, balcony bathtubs, of course ac and turn down service.

Seaweed Villa is fully staffed with your own Personal Chef, Tasha, the sweet Housekeepers Shakira and Carlene and your ever reliable Bartender/Butlers Daniel and Aaron.

Food:

Tasha is sure to whip up something special and unforgettable. Make sure you ask her to get lobster, fresh from the fisherman, honestly the best we have ever had. And for dessert, Tasha's chocolate mousse is a sure winner. Tasha was up to any menu option I threw at her and of course had some of her own specialties. Contact her beforehand to menu plan together, or let her plan it all.

Treasure Beach

What is truly special about Seaweed is where it's located. Treasure Beach is not what you think of when you think Jamaica. Located around 3 hours from Kingston (KIN) or 2 hours from Montego Bay (MBJ), its a little different. The seas are a little rougher and the sands are not the bright white of Negril. But it certainly is a sweet little unspoiled, Jamaican treasure.

10 Things about Seaweed, Jakes and Treasure Beach that Murphy Co Love:

  1. The house was designed with an incredible attention to detail. There are little story boards of design all over the house.

  2. There are comfortable places to sit

  3. either in a group or to enjoy the view by yourself.

  4. The sound of the waves from the house.

  5. Love the friendly dog that meets you at the gate and is your beach walk companion.

  6. Jack Sprat at Jakes, a quaint Jamaican style restaurant

  7. Treasure Beach is a real Jamaican town, with an authentic low key vibe.

  8. Love the fruits stands all over, try the Jack Fruit! St. Elizabeth, the parish that Treasure Beach is located in is referred to as the "bread basket of the nation" producing 22% of Jamaica's food.

  9. Pizza Shops. For such a small little town, there are quite a few pizza shops.

  10. Red Tours. A local owner that will come and bring bikes or organize hikes for you. The town is sleepy enough to ride around.

Of MurphyCo Note:

The waves may just be surfable. On a trip back, surf boards will definitely be taken. And the town of Treasure Beach reminds us of a sleepy, Nicaraguan surf town. And the sunsets are beyond breathtaking.
