The iconic CN Tower is a definite must visit spot when you go to Toronto.
But if you really want to take it a step further and see the city from the Edge then you have to do the Edge Walk!
The Edge Walk experience consists of participants strapping themselves into a harness and then walking along the top of the CN tower, giving you not only a great view of the city but a rush of adrenaline from 16 stories up.
As you can imagine, when you are walking open air 356m or 1168ft above Toronto on a 5ft ledge, it's a process and many safety precautions are taken before you go out there.
The Process:
Book your spots online and ensure that you have enough time before to get your head into the game:
1. Once called in, there will be a fitting as you get fitted up for your jumpsuits and your harness.
2. There will also be some training to learn what to do and what not to do
3. Your instructor will give you a breathalyzer to make sure you're not intoxicated.
This whole process takes around an hour as you wait for your turn to go up!!
4. You will then take an elevator all the way to the top where you get to the waiting room at the top of the tower. There you will get harnessed to the main pole that wraps around the outside of the tower.
5. One more time, your instructor will go over the rules and give you some quick tips and a pep talk.
6. Then the doors open and the skyline of Toronto waits for you.
For those not doing the Edge Walk and have just come along to watch, you will have to pay for the admission to the tower, you can watch from a TV up top. Just make sure to ask the people at the Edge Walk reception to give you a pass to get access to the elevator when your people are on their way up.
The Experience:
Once up at the Edge Walk, the sprawling metropolitan of Toronto stares back at you from your perch in the clouds. Your instructor may have to shake you back to reality, as for a second, you might forget you’re human and not a bird (but if you try to fly the harness will catch you, don’t worry). Once back in your body and your feathers disappear your instructor will get you acclimated to walking with the clouds. They will encourage you to do tricks like hanging off the edge held up by your harness, but I don’t want to ruin the surprises too much for you.
You may find yourself a little uneasy about the safety of it and may not trust the equipment fully. Not saying that I did that! Lol. Though don't worry everything is 100% safe.
For 45 minutes you are up there enjoying the view, as you slowly wrap around the tower.
For all those looking for some great photos don't worry as your instructor will take plenty for you. Fair warning for the dose of sadness that will hit once your instructor says it's time to get your head out of the clouds.

Post Descent:
After there are photos and videos to buy! And I think this is something you would not want to miss being recorded, so make sure you budget the extra money for the photos! After all it may be a once in a lifetime walk.
Overall, I would say it's a great experience for both those with adventurous spirits and who are adrenaline junkies.

:
May I also add that anyone can do it. After all, we went with our grandma who did it for her 75th Birthday and with our 80 year old Grandpa who came along for the ride!
